Taxes= Punishment

ok so i hope the image loaded up ok. but i have a problem with the so called taxing of the rich. it is not the right of the Government to reach into the pockets of the wealthy and take money that they have earned to pay for someone elses insurance or well being. we are not a socialist nation we are a democracy we have the right to live freely. like Reagan said, "A government that governs best governs the least" it is our right as Americans to give to people in need not our obligation. it is also our right to not give if we so choose. the nation needs to back off of the rich and let them keep the money that they have worked so hard to earn i hope the picture has loaded but if not the top 5% of the rich in 2005 have or are paying 60% or more of total income taxes. they should not be punished for doing well in their lives and being motivated to better. it is just a screwed up system the rich should not have to pay for their insurance and part of someone elses. they call it "Tax breaks for the rich" i call it allowing people to spend their money how they choose not how the government chooses. my dad will be getting abonus in March but will only be receiving half of his total amount because he is being forced to pay taxes on things that do not even effect him, such as Social Security, Medicare, or Medicade. its ridiculous and needs to be dealt with.

Your underlying contention that taxing the rich is somehow unfair seems faulty. What is fair? Is it fair for the poor to pay the same tax rate as the rich? Why should the rich not be taxed more, due to their ability to pay? The rich disproportionately benefit from the economic and political environment created by the government and therefore should pay higher taxes. It is a simple formula...the higher the benefit you receive, the higher the cost to you. In addition, your contention that the rich are rich because they work harder than the poor seems groundless. What proof do you have to support this claim other than basic generalizations? The fact of the matter is the wealthy of the United States pay the lowest income rate in the industrialized world. It is time to stop complaining and realize we are one nation committed to helping each other. If fighting in a war is a patriotic duty than so too is paying one's share for that nation's protection. Oh...everyone who works receives Social Security benefits.
