Not only is it cheap labor they also incite war in the regions that they decide to mine. Except in Botswana where the mining company led all its 1.9 million people out of poverty. Through the mine the nations leaders have been able to return some of the profits to the people of that nation. In building roads and other developments. De Beers ( a mining company.) has worked hand in hand with the nation of Botswana in a 50-50 partnership. That way everybody wins. But this is just one example of an honest mining company. What about the other nations of Africa that rape the soil for all that it is worth and then move on leaving a confused people to fight over their differences. Once the mining company leaves the more forceful group will force others to work the mines because they think that is their only source of income. Because it is all they have known. There needs to be more honest companies out their that are willing to give back to their workers.
